My Favorite Things of 2020

10) Disney +

The best new streaming service of the year. I really enjoyed
The Mandalorian, Encore, The Imagineering Story, Forky Asks A Question, The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special, Jessie, and of course Hamilton!
It’s nice to have most of the Disney and Marvel films streaming.

9) YouTube Premium

I always thought that paying for YouTube was silly, but once I did, there was no going back. Half of what I watch lately is on YouTube. I had ad blockers on my browser, but when I watched on the 65″ 4K there was always a ton of ads. YouTube is so much better without ads and now we can download videos before a long journey, and I can listen to YouTube without having to watch it. The original programming is great too. I highly recommend Weird City.
My favorite part of YouTube is learning so much. Two of my favorite channels right now are Joe Scott and Today I Found Out along with both their other channels.

8) The Good Place

7) Ready Player Two

So far it’s as good as the original and highly immersive. I’m reading it slowly because I don’t want it to end. If it’s like the last one, I’ll read it four times. Wil Wheaton is the perfect voice for the audio version.

6) Doordash

No hunting or gathering needed anymore. I now can both work and eat in my pajamas. The future is making me fat, and I love it.

5) Fatman Beyond and That Kevin Smith Club

This has become my can’t miss show of the week. Two middle-aged Nerds like myself talking about current events. What could be better than that? I love these guys. As a member of That Kevin Smith Club it’s nice to have the audio version available if I miss the live show. My favorite show on That Kevin Smith Club is Wake and Bake. The title is pretty self-explanatory.

4) Star Trek Lower Decks

Simply the best Star Trek since Enterprise

3) Masks and mask making

Due to the global pandemic and the need for masks and the lack of masks, I dusted off my sewing skills and had a good time making a bunch of masks for friends and friends of friends. I hadn’t really sewn much since I was a teenager making my own clothes, Star Trek uniforms, and pro-wrestling gear. But with the help of some YouTube tutorials, I was back in the swing of things rather quickly and I was able to teach Renny some sewing as well.

2) Grogu (Baby Yoda)

Oh my goodness how cute is he?!? Serenity has absolutely fallen in love with this little creature and he has become a part of our family. He goes everywhere and does everything with us.

1. Serenity

The best Kid a guy could ever have. She is smart, kind, and fun to be around. No matter how many things get me down, I always have that one thing that makes life worth living and it is her.

Honorable Mentions

Alexis Ren’s Instagram

I’m a little late to the Red Dwarf party, but they came out with a new movie in 2020 so it still counts.
